On Wednesday the broadcast schedule for the Blackhawks upcoming season was released, and 70 out of the team’s 82 games will be aired on either WGN or NBC Sports Chicago.

The season starts with a game at the United Center on October 5 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. It will be broadcast by NBC Sports Chicago, which as of October 2 will go by Comcast Sportsnet Chicago, its new name.

The 12 other Blackhawks games that will not be broadcast locally can be watched on either NBC or NBC Sports Network.

It was announced by the team that analyst Eddie Olczyk would be part of the upcoming season’s broadcast team but didn’t say when Olczyk would first be in the booth. Olczyk is currently undergoing colon cancer treatment.

Previously NBC Sports had announced that Olczyk was not going to be part of its coverage at the start of the season while he is recovering.

On radio all of the games will be broadcast by WGN-AM 720.
